Design Thinking: Developing a Human Centered Mindset with Kerry Plemmons

"Design Thinking isn’t just a method, it fundamentally changes the fabric of your organization and your business." David Kelley, founder of IDEO and the Stanford d.school.

The future of work is upon us and demands innovative thinking for how we attract, engage, and inspire our people. The needs of our workforce have never been so diversified and having a human-centered approach - where we slow down the process of generating solutions so we can uncover the actual unmet needs of our people  - will make the difference.

In this speed version of the design thinking process, you’ll engage in a dialogue about the value this mindset can bring to your organizations and then roll up our sleeves and get to work on one of the most pressing challenges facing organizations today. (We will be crowdsourcing the specific talent-related challenge).

You will have an opportunity to not only learn the what and why, but also practice a few stages of the how. Together, we will:

  • Discuss the power and art of empathy and how to observe and listen on a whole new level
  • Practice idea generation on steroids
  •  Work in small groups to hone insights into viable prototypes

Once the sparks are done flying, you’ll walk away with better understanding of the process and also great ideas for an experiments that you can test at your organization.
